Today my husband celebrates his Navy Birthday!
17 years ago today, he took the most honorable oath a person could take.
He swore to defend our country with his life.
After 10 years as an enlisted sailor, he was picked up for OCS (Officer Candidate School) and has been an outstanding Naval Officer ever since.
In his 17 years, he has deployed 8 times, including a tour in Iraq. You may remember if you have been following me for a while that in 2015, he was deployed for almost a year. That was a rough year for us!
I am so honored to be his wife.
So, I wanted to post the oath that my husband took 17 years ago today, and for all of us to remember how lucky we are that honorable men and women risk their lives every day for our freedoms.
The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):
“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
