My Word of the Year for 2022 | Vanessa Hicks Photography

I spent a lot of time the last few weeks really trying to figure out what my Word of the Year was going to be this year.

If you don’t know what a Word of the Year is, it’s truly all about choosing a word (or even a phrase if you wanted to) to try to follow and live your year by.

I have chosen a word of the year for the past few years, but I have to admit, it was hard to live by them as our world got turned upside down for the last two years!

As I shared in my 2021 recap, last year was not the easiest year by far. Coming into 2022, I literally just said “See you later” to my husband for a 8+ month deployment, I knew I needed to find a word to help me through this year, after such a rough 2 years.

My 2022 Word of the Year is

This year,

I want to RISE to face any challenges that come my way this year.

I want to RISE above my fears.

I want to RISE and chase my dreams and goals this year.

I want to RISE and take my mental health more seriously.

I want to RISE and shatter the perception of perfection.

I want to RISE in the morning, giving myself a high five (thank you #high5habit from Mel Robbins!), and start the day in a positive manner.

I want to RISE above haters, fake friends, and people to drain energy from me.

I want to RISE to the challenge of setting boundaries both personally and professionally.

I want to RISE and be the mother and wife that my family needs. Ive spent the last 8 years putting my clients and business first, and not my family. I will RISE and make sure that is not the case anymore.

I will RISE above my self doubt.

I will RISE to all possiblities and opportunities that come my way! I will do it scared and messy!

I will RISE above the parts of myself that I don’t like.

I want to RISE in my industry.

I want to inspire others to RISE as well. I want to be the light for people.

I want to RISE and step into my light. I want to shine bright and not be afraid of the sun.
