I love that song and I remember hearing about it when we moved to Monterey, California 3+ years ago! I had never been to California, but I just knew in my soul that I was going to love it!
And I did! Unfortunately, we were only there for 18 months before our move to Hawaii! Now, as we are boarding our flights to San Diego for our next chapter in our lives, I can’t help but hear that song! California, here we come!
And if Samantha and Rodrigo’s engagement session at Torrey Pines Lodge and Torrey Pines Beach, well, I just can’t wait for the future!

Rodrigo and I met during undergrad at UCSD. Rodrigo’s roommate, Carlo, wanted me to meet Rodrigo and insisted we go on a double date. I personally am not one for double dates( I didn’t want any pressure), so i brought two of my best friends with me haha! We met at the Fogo de Chao (brazilian steakhouse), and hit it off! I soon joined the brazilian club on campus (Rodrigo was the president!) and we spent the next 6 months hanging out at meetings and at the beach. I invited him to meet the family at my uncle’s bday party. The belly dancer got rodrigo to dance in front of 300 friends and family members (none of which he knew besides me!). It was the cutest thing! We finished our undergrad studies at UCSD and moved to Georgetown together for graduate school. I obtained my master’s in nursing and rodrigo is finishing his medical school training. He divides his time between San Diego and DC because he is able to do “away” rotations. We got engaged in november of 2019, after five years of dating!!!!
I mean, that love story, right? When I met them at Torrey Pines Lodge, I immediately felt a spark with them! We started talking like we were old friends, and enjoyed the next 2 hours with each other! I love all of their images, ( I literally could not stop editing!), but when Samantha put on this red dress for our sunset beach photos at Torrey Pines Beach, mine, along with everyone else at the beach that kept stopping us, mouths just DROPPED!
