Wow, the day has finally arrived!

My family and I are hitting the road today for our cross country trip to California!!

As I look back in this past 11 months of my business, I am just in AWE!!

I never would have imagined that the day my position was eliminated from my corporate job, and I felt like my life was over, and I had this crazy idea to start up photography, that I would actually do it, that I would actually live my dream!

Because of you, I did!

I just got done counting and can you believe in 2015 I photographed 143 sessions!!!!

**no wonder I’m tired!!!**

143 sessions!!

So, for the total sessions completed in the past 11 months, that would be 232 sessions!!!!

All of that consisted of Christmas minis, Fall minis, Spring Minis, Weddings, Family Sessions, Cake Smashes, Births, Fresh 48’s, Maternities, Newborn, and even Anniversary and Events!

I’ve watched my work get better with practice, persistence and education. 

I’ve made some amazing friends along this journey, met some amazing people, and hope, I hope, I was able to document some memories that my clients will treasure for the rest of their lives!

And of course, I saw that sometimes one image can change your whole life. I saw that taking a stand for what you believe in is ALWAYS the right thing to do!

What an honor.

What a year!

And, in my heart right now, is just thanks!

Thanks to ALL of you who supported along this journey! 

Thanks to ALL of you who allowed me to document important times in your lives!

Thanks to ALL of you who allowed me in your homes, to interact with your families, and sometimes be the first one to see your newborn child after birth.

I am not sure what good I have done to deserve this, but I am honored. 

Let me tell you, I am so nervous about our move to California! Nervous about starting over.

What if I’m not good enough? What if no one books me? What if I am not successful?

All things any small business owner would be thinking. All I can tell you all is that I will be trying my best out there and busting my butt to get my business up and running.  I can only be so lucky to even document half the amount of sessions I’ve done here. 

I hope you guys stick around and see where Vanessa Hicks Photography goes! Again, none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for all of you. 

I am eternally grateful, humbled and honored.
