So, my oldest girl turned 11 last week!
eleven!!!
Like, I’m not sure how that even happened! And how I am that old to have an 11 year old!
Jasmine has always been my “cool” kid.
She beats to her own drum, and it makes me proud!
I always call her my weirdo, because she IS weird! And I love it!
She’s smart, kind, a big Harry Potter nerd, artist, responsible and athletic!
When we got to Hawaii, all she wanted to do was surf! No hula (too girly, she’s a big tomboy), but surfing she wanted to do!
So we signed her up! And she’s been loving it!
She told me one time that when she surfs, she feels like she’s dancing with the water!
She even got a surfboard for Christmas!
So she decided that she wanted to have her birthday pictures done with her surfboard! And thats what we did.
I want to tell you why these pictures mean even more to me…
The day we went to go and do her pictures, that morning, on our way to the beach, we got the alert for the inbound missile attack. We were on base and turned right around, as my other daughter was home. I watched Jasmine break down in the car when we were barricaded on base, screaming that we would not be able to see Josh and Taty before the missile hit. We made it home, sat, cried and said our goodbyes. Then, finally, we found out it was an “accident”.
We sat on that couch for over an hour, stunned, scared, and afraid. While was still uneasy, and felt like that for days, I made the decision that we should get up and live, because we had a chance too. We had plans to take Jasmine’s photos, and it was a beautiful Hawaii day, and that’s exactly what we did.
We lived.
So these photos are just so important to me. We lived another day. My baby is 11. All is good in our world!
Enjoy Jasmine’s Surfing photos!
